"I hate the school passionately," senior golfer Zack Bannon said of the favored Boylan team.
Disdain may well have fueled the epic victory in Tuesday's Harlem Regional.
Auburn's golf team came out on top with a team total of 320, besting Guilford's 321 and Boylan's 322.
The winning shot came off senior Sam White's lob wedge. The last Auburn shot of the day, White holed out from 80 yards.
"I thought it had a chance at going in, but i wasn't sure because the spectators around the green didn't react to it right away," White said.
The pulseless spectators were likely Boylan supports, no longer able to express real human emotion after years of Botox and soul selling.
The shot was White's only eagle of the day.
While White may have capped the back 9 comeback, Harlem led through the front 9, Bannon led the surge.
His 35 on the back 9 was best by 3 strokes. With a round of 75, he finished second overall and outshot his Boylan counterpart, Elliot Horst, by 12. Horst is notorious in the Rockford golf community for being booted from last years team on charges of trading strokes. Not very Boylanesque, huh? Oh, wait...
Up next for the illustrious Auburn squad is sectionals in Lake Forest on Monday.
