This just in...this is the worst umpired postseason I have ever seen. The third base umpire, Tim Mcclelland, just blew the most simplistic call. Jorge Posada, having already made a baserunning error by not scoring from second on a Robinson Cano double with one out, got caught in a pickle between third and home on a come backer to the pitcher. The pitcher threw the ball to the catcher who ran Posada back to third. Cano advanced, as he should have, with the lead runner caught in a run down. However, Cano did not step on third. Angels catcher Mike Napoli tagged Cano while he was off the bag and then tagged Posada as he too was off the bag. If a player is off the bag and tagged with the ball, he is out. However, only Posada was called out! The umpire anticipated Cano touching third, but he did not. While the Angels got the third out the next at-bat, therefore preventing the call from influencing the game, this call was egregious and could have hurt the home team.
