Will the Twins catch the Tigers?

With CT covering the NL Wild Card chase, it's time for a look at the only AL race left.

The Tigers have been able to stay out of their own way just enough to stay atop the AL Central for most of the season. As my Detroit sports insider Papa has told me all season, the Tigers can't seem to get hot when they have to. Now would be a good time. With a 2 game lead and 7 left to play, the Tigers look susceptible to a last second division thievery. The Twins, led by the best hitter in the AL Joe Mauer, are 8-2 in their last 10 games, picking up 3 games on the Tigers during that stretch. The Twins are 9-5 this season against their feline prey. Whether they catch the Tigers or not will be determined starting tonight. Opening a 4 game series in Detroit, I see the Twins coming in and ripping the AL Central title from the Tigers' hands. Look for the Twins to take 3 of 4 from the Tigers this week to tie and sweep the Royals at home, finding a way to win on the second to last game of the season against should be AL Cy Young Zack Greinke, while the Tigers stumble in Chicago against the Bad Guys.
